From Humble Beginnings to the King of Afrobeat 001- Davido

“When I started music, my uncle, Aliko Dangote, told me if I didn’t make $5 million in my first year, I’d have to quit and he’d set me up with a $100 million business instead.

But I couldn’t afford to disappoint my family. Success runs in our bloodline, and I wasn’t about to be the first to break the chain. Everyone wanted me to go to school and join the family business, but I had to prove myself in music.

Dangote—yes, the richest man in Africa—is my uncle and my godfather. He even drove me home from the hospital when I was born. But even with all the wealth around me, my dad kept things humble. He’s a billionaire, but until I was 13, I thought we were just regular. Why? Because he drove a Honda!

Fast forward to today: I’m the king of Afrobeats. Hard work, family values, and discipline shaped me, but passion made me unstoppable.”
